Transportation Benefit District Sales Tax Renewal – Funding for Future Transportation Projects

A recent meeting document Lynnwood - Work Session - 2026-05-18 indicates a future potential acquisition The Lynnwood Transportation Benefit District receives 0.1% sales tax within the City, currently generating $3.2M per year. This tax is set to expire March 31, 2027. The City is proposing to renew this tax for an additional 10 years, effective April 1, 2027, to fund street operations/maintenance, traffic signal team, traffic engineering, and capital projects. The renewal will support ongoing and future investments in efficient, integrated, local and regional transportation systems, pedestrian and bike flow, safety, and adaptive traffic management infrastructure. The funding will be used for both operational and capital projects, including but not limited to street maintenance, traffic signals, and pedestrian improvements. The ordinance is scheduled for consideration and possible adoption on May 26, 2026.
