In-Cab Navigation and Service Verification System for Solid Waste Fleet

Background

The City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services (SWS) aims to enhance operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, customer service, and cost savings through the deployment of reliable technologies in its fleet vehicles. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize waste collection operations and improve the overall operator experience while ensuring seamless integration with existing city systems.

Work Details

The awarded contractor will provide an in-cab navigation and service verification system that includes: 1. Implementation of a turn-by-turn navigation tool with route progress tracking, task assignments, and driver-initiated documentation. 2. Integration with a GIS-based route planning tool for batch import/export of routes to navigation devices. The system must support real-time data collection from trucks and drivers for analytics and operational decision-making. The project will consist of three components: A) Navigation During Collection; B) Routing and GIS Integration; C) Key Functions and Advanced Features.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to be performed starting from July 2026, with specific timelines for each component outlined in the proposal.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed within the City of Raleigh, North Carolina.
