Professional Architectural/Engineering Consultant Services for Seattle Animal Shelter Design

Work Requested

The City of Seattle is seeking professional architectural and engineering consultant services for the design of a new Seattle Animal Shelter. The scope of work includes: - Planning and designing an approximately 50,000 square foot, modern, purpose-built animal shelter facility on City-owned property - Replacing the existing Interbay shelter to address current operational, capacity, and community needs - Incorporating best practices in animal welfare into the design - Expanding veterinary and community services within the facility - Creating a safe, welcoming environment for animals, staff, volunteers, and the public - Conducting site planning that considers the potential co-location of the Seattle Animal Shelter with other compatible uses Who is Requesting: The City of Seattle Department of Finance and Administrative Services (FAS), Capital Development Division (CD), is the requesting agency for these consultant services.

Background

This project is part of the City's initiative to replace the current Interbay shelter, which no longer meets the operational, capacity, or community requirements. The new facility aims to support the City's commitment to animal welfare and expand services for both animals and the community.

Contract Requirements

The selected consultant must demonstrate expertise in architectural and engineering services for animal welfare facilities and be able to deliver a comprehensive design that meets the City's stated goals and requirements.
