Smart Scale - Safety Improvements

Background

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is issuing a contract for safety improvements along Route 76, specifically from 0.787 miles south of Powhite Creek to 0.311 miles north of Powhite Creek. This project is part of the Smart Scale initiative aimed at enhancing road safety and infrastructure efficiency in Chesterfield County, Richmond District. The goal is to improve traffic conditions and safety measures in this area.

Work Details

The contract includes various construction tasks such as clearing and grubbing, excavation, installation of concrete culverts, storm sewer pipes, manholes, guardrails, and pavement markings. Specific items include: 1. Clearing and Grubbing - Lump Sum 2. Bedding Material Aggregate No. 57 - 39 tons 3. Concrete Class A4 Box Culvert - 33.3 cubic yards 4. Reinforcing Steel - 3,551.8 pounds 5. Installation of various sizes of storm sewer pipes (15", 42", and 48") and end sections 6. Drop Inlet DI-2B (8') - 4 units 7. Regular Excavation - 13,323 cubic yards 8. Asphalt Concrete for various applications including SM-12.5A, IM-19.0D, and BM-25.0D - multiple tons specified 9. Traffic control measures including temporary signs and channelizing devices.

Period of Performance

The contract work is scheduled to commence upon award and must be completed by July 7, 2028.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed along Route 76 in Chesterfield County, Virginia.
