Bridge Replacement

Background

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is issuing a contract for the replacement of a bridge as part of its mission to maintain and improve transportation infrastructure. The project, identified as A43_2026 SGR - Bridge Replacement, aims to replace the existing bridge structure located between 57.93 Catalpa Place and 58.01 McLaughlin Street in Lexington, Virginia. Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for various tasks including but not limited to: - Replacement of the existing bridge structure with new materials. - Installation of endwalls, pipes (12" and 15"), drop inlets, manholes, and frames & covers as specified in the bid items. - Grading and excavation work including borrow excavation with a minimum CBR value of 5. - Dewatering basins, siltation control excavation, inlet protection, temporary silt fences, and erosion control measures. - Construction of concrete structures including prestressed concrete slabs and various types of asphalt concrete. - Installation of underdrains, curbs, sidewalks, fencing, and signage as detailed in the proposal documents.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to commence upon award and must be completed by November 12, 2027.

The work will be performed at the specified location between 57.93 Catalpa Place and 58.01 McLaughlin Street in Lexington, Virginia.
