Council Chambers Renovation

Background

The Town of South Boston is inviting sealed bids for the renovation of the second floor of the South Boston Council Chambers located at 420 Main Street, South Boston, Virginia. The project aims to repair damage and provide a clean shell space for storage use, as detailed in the Contract Documents. The renovation encompasses an area of approximately 3,385 square feet and includes various interior improvements.

Work Details

The scope of work includes: - Repairing damaged flooring - Cleaning existing flooring throughout - Furring out walls around the perimeter of the space - Removing loose items from the ceiling - Installing a new ACT (Acoustic Ceiling Tile) ceiling with insulation above it - Painting throughout. Additionally, a new HVAC system will be installed to maintain adequate humidity and temperature levels as specified in the construction documents. The general contractor is responsible for all labor and materials necessary to complete demolition and removal of items as shown or noted on drawings.

Period of Performance

The contractor is expected to achieve substantial completion within 45 consecutive calendar days after receiving the Notice to Proceed, followed by final completion within an additional 15 consecutive calendar days.

All work will be performed at the South Boston Council Chambers located at 420 Main Street, South Boston, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be properly licensed under applicable laws and able to obtain required insurance and bonds. A Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond are required for contracts exceeding $500,000. Bids must include a bid security of 5% if the bid exceeds $500,000. The successful bidder must also comply with nondiscrimination provisions and drug-free workplace provisions as per Virginia Code.
