Background The Department of Veterans Affairs is issuing this contract to replace heat exchangers at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center located in Bonham, Texas. The project aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the heating systems in buildings 1, 2, 24, and 29, which have been experiencing maintenance issues due to aging equipment. The goal is to replace outdated heat exchangers with more efficient models to reduce repair costs and improve service delivery for veterans. Work Details The contractor shall furnish all material and labor to replace a total of 8 heat exchangers across buildings #1, #2, #24, and #29 at the Bonham VA Medical Center. The scope of work includes: - Disconnecting existing steam supply, condensate, water in/out, controls from old units. - Demolition, removal, and disposal of 8 existing Armstrong heaters. - Providing required steam piping, valves, and fittings to connect new units to the existing system. - Installing condensate drain and relief valve piping with necessary fittings for proper installation. - Running electrical connections to both new steam control valves. Specific requirements include: - Building #1: Two vertical heat exchangers providing instantaneous indirect water heating with Siemens 2” electric steam control valves. - Building #2: Two vertical heat exchangers with RTK 2.5” electric steam control valves; removal of existing B&G return pumps and installation of new ones. - Building #24: Two vertical heat exchangers with RTK 3” electric steam control valves; installation of a new Fabtek stainless-steel condensate unit. Period of Performance The contractor shall begin performance within 14 calendar days after receiving the award and complete it within 180 calendar days.
