Summary (Newest Update)

Background The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Innovation Office is hosting an Industry Day to showcase its Electronic Gates (eGates) capability. This initiative aims to enhance TSA's third-party partnerships to accelerate innovation and improve efficiency in aviation security. The goal is to implement eGates at the Travel Document Checker (TDC) through collaboration with industry partners, leveraging public-private partnerships (P3) to modernize the air travel experience for over two million passengers daily while addressing evolving security threats and resource constraints. Work Details The eGates will utilize advanced facial comparison technology, including one-to-one (1:1) and one-to-few (1:n) capabilities, allowing TSA officers to oversee multiple lanes and process more passengers efficiently. Key features include: - 1:1 facial comparison: Compares a live image of the passenger against their credential image. - 1:n facial comparison: Utilizes a backend gallery for identity verification. - Digital ID enrollment: Passengers can opt to use their digital ID for a faster screening experience. - AutoCAT system: A future version of the Credential Authentication Technology that automates identity verification using facial comparison in both 1:1 and 1:n modes, enhancing self-service and queue management capabilities. Period of Performance The assessment of the third-party model for eGates is planned for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026. Place of Performance The implementation and assessment of eGates will occur at various airports across the United States.
