FY2026 Water Main Replacements Project

Background

The Town of Belmont, Massachusetts is issuing a solicitation for the FY2026 Water Main Replacements Project. The project aims to enhance the town's water infrastructure by replacing outdated water mains and ensuring reliable water service to residents.

Work Details

The scope of work includes the construction of approximately 2,200 linear feet of new 8-inch and 10-inch ductile iron water main. This includes the transfer and installation of water services, installation of fire hydrants, abandonment of existing water main, and all other appurtenant work in Elm Street and Chandler Street. Additionally, the project involves water main tie-in connections and service transfers to accommodate the abandonment of the 6-inch cast iron water main in Lexington Street; the existing 10-inch water main will remain in service.

Period of Performance

Construction work shall be fully completed within 120 calendar days from the date stated in the Notice to Proceed, excluding winter shutdown from November 15 to April 15.

Place of Performance

The contract will be performed in Belmont, Massachusetts, specifically along Elm Street, Chandler Street, and Lexington Street.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders are required to provide bid security in the form of a bid bond, cash, certified check, treasurer’s or cashier’s check payable to the Owner, amounting to five percent of the bid. The selected contractor must furnish a performance bond and a payment bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Bidders must comply with applicable bidding laws of Massachusetts and adhere to prevailing wage rates as determined by state law.
