Background The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is seeking technology research in horizon scanning for strategic foresight. This initiative is part of the NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate’s (ARMD) Innovative Concepts team, which aims to identify transformative opportunities for NASA and accelerate innovation that leads to positive futures. The procurement is set aside for small businesses. Work Details The contractor will support the lifecycle of foresight within the Innovative Concepts team in the Transformative Tools and Technologies project. Key tasks include: - Data collection across PESTELE domains (Policy, Economics, Social Science/Society, Technology, Environment, Legal, Ethics) - Data validation and compatibility with NASA's internal knowledge management system (Madi) - Social listening from platforms like Reddit and YouTube - Scraping academic literature - Scanning for unique experiments - Gathering news from various sources - Conducting patent analysis - Performing human interviews to capture diverse opinions - Analyzing data bias and veracity - Conducting sentiment analysis - Integrating findings into Madi for visualization and tagging - Providing topic briefings based on expert interviews - Publishing a report on belief systems impacting decision-making and technology development.
