Cow Creek Road Salvage Timber Sale A

Background

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This salvage timber sale is located within the northwest perimeter of the Cow Creek Wildfire area, specifically in the Black Prong Tract of Goethe State Forest in Levy County, Florida. The goal of this contract is to manage and harvest timber affected by wildfire damage.

Work Details

The salvage timber sale involves approximately 587 acres, categorized into two harvest areas: Primary and Contingency. The Primary area covers about 399 acres designated for clearcut harvest, while the Contingency area spans approximately 188 acres and will be monitored by the Forester-in-Charge to determine if additional harvesting is necessary. Harvesting operations must begin within ten (10) calendar days after contract execution. Special care must be taken regarding waterbodies and red-cockaded woodpecker (RCW) clusters, with exclusion areas marked by the Forester-in-Charge. Timber designated for removal may include dead, dying, or green pine timber and may consist of salvage pine pulpwood, salvage pine chip-n-saw, salvage pine sawtimber, and fuelwood. The buyer is not required to harvest non-merchantable timber or timber deemed undersized or economically unviable.

Period of Performance

The term of this agreement is twelve (12) months from the date of contract execution.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed in the Black Prong Tract of Goethe State Forest, located southeast of County Road 343 in Levy County, Florida.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be prepared to forfeit all but one sale if they place the highest acceptable bid on multiple salvage sales (Cow Creek Road Salvage Sale A, B, and C). They must also have adequate equipment to harvest sales simultaneously if needed.
