Janitorial Services for Parks and Recreation

Background

The Hanover County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking to establish a term contract for janitorial and custodial services, including supplies, on a routine and as-needed basis. This contract aims to maintain cleanliness across various parks and recreation facilities within Hanover County, Virginia, which encompasses over 1,500 acres of parkland with diverse amenities such as trails, athletic fields, and playgrounds.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all supervision, labor, and transportation necessary for janitorial services at specified locations. Key responsibilities include: - Daily cleaning at Montpelier Park Recreation Center and Library, including bathrooms (cleaning with a 9:1 water/bleach solution), replenishing supplies (paper towels, toilet paper), sweeping/vacuuming/mopping floors, disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash cans/bins, cleaning windows weekly, securing doors post-cleaning, and reporting damages. - Weekly cleaning at community buildings (Pole Green Community Center and Montpelier Community Building) with similar tasks as above. - Daily restroom cleaning in parks from January 1 to December 31 (excluding New Year's Eve/Day and Christmas Eve/Day). - As-needed cleaning during special events with staff on-site to maintain cleanliness. - Emergency cleaning within one hour of notification for urgent situations like flooding or vandalism. The contractor must also furnish all necessary materials and equipment for the services.

Period of Performance

The contract period is from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027. It is renewable for four successive one-year periods.

Place of Performance

Services will be performed at various locations within Hanover County, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must have a minimum of two years of experience in providing janitorial services. They are required to comply with all local, state, federal laws including OSHA regulations. The contractor must also maintain adequate insurance coverage as specified in the solicitation.
