Mappsville Facility Security Fencing Upgrades

Background

The Virginia Commercial Space Flight Authority (VCSFA), a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, is responsible for operating the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport. The authority is seeking bids for a project aimed at enhancing security at its Mappsville Facility through the installation of new perimeter fencing. This initiative is part of VCSFA's commitment to maintaining secure facilities and ensuring safety in operations.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and transportation necessary to remove and replace approximately 1,200 linear feet of perimeter fencing at the Mappsville Facility located at 13249 Lankford Hwy, Mappsville, VA 23407. The specifications for the new fence include: 1. **Demolition and Removal**: - Remove approximately 1,375 linear feet of existing fence including posts, rails, fabric, and associated hardware. - Remove existing gates and gate hardware where present. - Dispose of all demolition materials offsite in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. - Leave the site clean and free of debris upon completion. 2. **Fence Installation**: - Install an 8-foot high chain link fence with a triple-strand barbed wire security topper over approximately 1,200 linear feet. - Use 9-gauge black vinyl coated chain link fabric with a continuous black vinyl coated steel top rail and appropriate brace/truss sizes. 3. **Gate Installation**: - One (1) 30-foot mechanical sliding gate with automation meeting UL2018 requirements. - Two (2) 10-foot total width double swing gates and one (1) 40-foot total width double swing gate. - Five (5) personnel swing gates with self-closing hinges and expanded metal security mesh welded onto the outside.

Period of Performance

The base scope of work must be completed no later than August 30, 2026.

All work will be performed at the Mappsville Facility located at 13249 Lankford Hwy, Mappsville, VA 23407.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with specific qualifications including having a valid Virginia Contractor’s License. They are required to submit documentation that demonstrates their capability to fulfill the contract obligations. Additionally, bidders should have experience in similar projects as evidenced by references from past clients.
