Background

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking competitive pricing for maintenance grading of access roads and the provision of road base material at the Big Bend Wildlife Management Area (WMA). The FWC's mission is to manage fish and wildlife resources for their long-term well-being and the benefit of people. This contract aims to ensure the maintenance of approximately 13 miles of designated access roads in Taylor and Dixie Counties, Florida, enhancing accessibility for public use.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for: 1. Maintenance grading of approximately 13 miles of designated access roads, expected to occur three times annually, with specific timeframes typically before hunting season, after general-gun season, and after spring turkey season. 2. Delivery and dump spreading of an estimated 1,500 tons of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) certified lime rock road base at the Hickory Mound and Jena Units. 3. The entire roadway will be graded to smooth the surface, fill depressions, remove debris, and prepare a crown with a 2% - 4% slope. Each mile requires a minimum of two passes on each side to ensure a smooth surface free from ruts and potholes. 4. The contractor must maintain at least one travel lane open during grading operations for public safety.

Period of Performance

The contract will be effective for one year upon issuance of the Purchase Order, with options to renew on a yearly basis for up to three additional years based on satisfactory performance and budget availability.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the Big Bend Wildlife Management Area located in Taylor and Dixie Counties, Florida.
