Janitorial Services for Parks and Recreation

Background

The Hanover County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking to establish a term contract for janitorial and custodial services, including supplies, on a routine and as-needed basis. The goal is to maintain cleanliness across various locations within Hanover County, Virginia, which includes over 1,500 acres of parkland with facilities such as walking/bike trails, athletic fields, and community centers.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all supervision, labor, and transportation necessary to perform janitorial services at specified locations. Key responsibilities include: - Daily cleaning at Montpelier Park Recreation Center and Library, including bathrooms (cleaning floors, door handles, toilets), replenishing supplies (paper towels, toilet paper), sweeping/vacuuming/mopping floors, disinfecting surfaces, emptying trash cans/bins, cleaning windows weekly, securing doors post-cleaning, and reporting damages. - Weekly cleaning at Pole Green Community Center and Montpelier Community Building with similar responsibilities. - Daily cleaning of park restrooms from January 1 through December 31 with specific exclusions for holidays. - Provision of emergency cleaning services within one hour of notification for incidents like flooding or vandalism. - The contractor must furnish all necessary materials and equipment for the services outlined in the contract.

Period of Performance

The contract period is from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027. It is renewable for four successive one-year periods.

Services will be performed at various locations within Hanover County, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements

Contractors must have a minimum of two years of experience in providing janitorial services. They must comply with all local, state, and federal regulations including OSHA standards. Additionally, contractors are required to maintain adequate insurance coverage as specified in the solicitation.
