Background

The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is seeking a vendor to remove scrap metal and material from the Dixon Correctional Center in Dixon, Illinois. This contract aims to facilitate the removal of scrap materials as part of the agency's operational needs, ensuring compliance with state regulations and promoting recycling efforts.

Work Details

The vendor will be responsible for the removal of all scrap metal from designated areas within the Dixon Correctional Grounds, including various types of metals and old farm equipment. The vendor must provide necessary equipment such as skid steers, backhoes, track hoes, dumpsters, tandem trucks, and semi-tractor trailers for the removal process. The vendor is also required to ensure safety on campus grounds and take full responsibility for all equipment and personnel during their time on site. All scrap materials must be transported away from the facility, with specific weight documentation required for compliance with state laws. Additionally, if any traffic signs or markers are found among the scrap, they must be shredded or bailed and not sold. The contract stipulates that work should be performed during normal business hours (Monday through Friday) unless otherwise agreed upon.

Period of Performance

This is a one-time contract commencing upon the last dated signature of the parties through June 30, 2026.

Bidder Requirements

The vendor must be fully insured and able to provide documentation upon request. They are required to comply with all applicable state and federal laws regarding recycling and transportation. Subcontractors may be utilized but must adhere to specific requirements if their annual value exceeds $100,000.
