LVSU State Park Hiking Trails Rehabilitation

Background

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) of the State of Minnesota is seeking bids for the rehabilitation of hiking trails at Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park. This project aims to restore trails that were damaged by flooding in 2024, aligning with the agency's mission to maintain and enhance state parks for public enjoyment and environmental stewardship.

Work Details

The contractor will provide labor, equipment, materials, tools, transportation, and incidentals necessary for the project. The scope includes: - Replenishing approximately 152 cubic yards of gravel loss using Class 5 material. - Constructing thirty (30) C steps and nineteen (19) water bars or rolling dips at eight locations within the trail system. - Building one (1) thirty-foot extension to an existing wooden walkway. - Installing one (1) water bar using native materials from the site at one location.

Period of Performance

The contract is set to commence on July 1, 2026, and will expire on October 30, 2027, or until all obligations have been satisfactorily fulfilled.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park located in St. Louis County, near Soudan, Minnesota.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must comply with specific requirements including registration with the Department of Labor and Industry for building construction contractors as per Minn. Stat. § 326B.701. Additionally, businesses certified as targeted group (TG), economically disadvantaged (ED), or veteran-owned will receive preference points in the evaluation process.
