Louisville Metro Public Works manages the installation of vertical deflection devices by request of Metro Council on Metro owned roadways within Jefferson County. In addition to basic maintenance of our roadways that includes paving, potholes, sidewalks, and alleys, Public Works is committed to safety through implementation of proven traffic calming methods. As funding is available and applications for projects are approved by Public Works for installation, expectations are for the successful contractor(s) to work expeditiously to complete the installation within the stated timeline. In Fiscal Year 24 (July-June), contractors for Public Works installed 134 devices over 39 projects. In Fiscal Year 25, contractors successfully completed 141 devices over 39 projects valued at approximately $662,000. We expect a similar investment in the coming year and recognize potential for additional investment as additional funding sources are made available.
