Background The VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS) is issuing a contract for grounds maintenance services at the Fort Wayne VA Medical Center. The mission of this contract is to ensure the maintenance of the facility's outdoor areas, providing safe and aesthetically pleasing environments for veterans and visitors. The goal is to deliver comprehensive snow and ice removal as well as lawn care services that uphold the standards of care expected by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Work Details The contractor shall provide all supervision, labor, tools, equipment, vehicles, transportation, and chemicals necessary for full-service snow and ice removal and lawn care services. Specific tasks include: - Snow and ice removal from all designated sites including parking lots, drives, walkways, sidewalks, crosswalks, and ramps. - Deicing of all designated areas. - Lawn care services that maintain healthy grass, trees, shrubs, and plants which present a clean and professional appearance. - Lawn care tasks include mowing, edging, trimming, mulching, weeding, overseeding, fertilizing, herbicide and pesticide control, and debris removal. - Snow and ice removal will occur approximately from November 1 through March 31 on an as-needed basis; however, contractors must be available before November 1 and after March 31 if weather conditions require it. - Lawn care will take place from April 1 through October 31 with similar availability requirements for early or late growing seasons. Period of Performance The base period of performance is one year from November 1, 2026 to October 31, 2027. Each additional option year will also be one year.
