Background The Christina School District, located in Wilmington and Newark, Delaware, serves approximately 13,000 students across over 32 schools/programs. The district is seeking proposals for an In-School Alternative Program aimed at providing proactive behavior intervention for chronically disruptive students and those assigned due to violations of the Student Manual. The goal is to implement a quality educational program that supports students' academic and behavioral needs. Work Details The selected vendor will implement an In-School Alternative Program (ISA) at eight secondary schools: Gauger-Cobbs Middle School, Kirk Middle School, Shue-Medill Middle School, The Bayard School, Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy, Christiana High School and Middle School Honors Academy, Glasgow High School, and Newark High School. Services include: - Academic Support: Assisting students in completing assignments and ensuring they are returned to teachers. - Character Education: Teaching respect, responsibility, fairness, kindness, honesty, tolerance, conflict resolution, and forgiveness. - Behavior Modification Through Restorative Practices: Utilizing communication and positive reinforcement to build relationships. - Teaching Replacement Behaviors: Modeling desired behaviors for students. - Data Collection: Tracking services provided to students as defined by the district. - Collaboration with district staff to enhance service quality. - Providing trained staff members to facilitate the ISA program effectively. Period of Performance The contract will commence on July 1, 2026, with a term of three years. It may be renewed for two additional one-year periods through negotiation. The district reserves the right to extend the contract on a month-to-month basis for up to three months after the initial term. Place of Performance The services will be performed at various locations within the Christina School District in Delaware. Bidder Requirements Vendors must demonstrate experience in implementing successful in-school alternative programs. They should provide evidence of staff qualifications including a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience working with behaviorally challenged students. Vendors must also ensure compliance with background checks and provide proof of necessary licenses or certifications prior to contract execution.
