Background Rhode Island College is seeking a vendor for HVAC improvements that include the addition of air-conditioning to the gym at Rhode Island College Murray Center, located at 600 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI. The goal of this contract is to enhance the facility's climate control systems to improve comfort and usability for its occupants. Work Details The work includes: - Replacement of the existing HVAC units with two new air handling units connected to dedicated outdoor condensers with architectural screening; - New and re-used ductwork; - Modification and re-use of/re-connection to the existing heating system; - All associated piping, insulation, electrical components, support hardware, and necessary controls integration required to deliver a fully functional installation to the Murray Center. Additional allowances include $20,000 for unforeseen conditions encountered on site for excavation beyond initial BID scope area and $10,000 for planting and landscaping. Liquidated damages are set at $250 per day for delays beyond substantial completion. Period of Performance The initial contract period will begin upon issuance of Purchase Agreement. Start of construction is immediately upon issuance of Purchase Order, with substantial completion expected by August 1, 2026, and final completion by August 27, 2026. Place of Performance The contract will be performed at Rhode Island College Murray Center, located at 600 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI. Bidder Requirements Vendors must have a valid certificate of registration issued by the Rhode Island Contractors’ Registration Board throughout the term of the contract. A bid surety bond or certified check in the amount of five percent (5%) of the vendor’s cost proposal is required. Vendors must also comply with insurance requirements including liability coverage of $1 million per occurrence and workers' compensation coverage.
