Background The U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) is issuing this solicitation for the replacement of Powerhouse Hot Water Tanks at the Federal Correctional Institution in Marion, Illinois. This project aims to ensure the proper functioning and safety of the facility's hot water systems, which are critical to its operations. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for furnishing all necessary materials, professional labor services, and related items to complete the work as outlined in the scope of work. The specific tasks include: - Removal and disposal of two existing jacketed storage tanks, including disconnecting all piping and gauges up to the first shut-off valve. - Cleaning and preparing the site for new storage tank units. - Supplying, delivering, and installing two new insulated and jacketed storage tank units with a capacity of 500 gallons each. These units must have at least a ½ inch cement lining, stainless steel threaded openings, and be painted with high-quality primer before applying a minimum of 3 inches thick fiberglass insulation per ASHRAE standards. Each unit will also feature a minimum 20 gauge steel jacket with enamel paint coating. The coil will consist of a 2 pass 316 stainless steel coil head with double wall copper tubes and gaskets. - Installation of all new gauges, piping, and valves up to the first shut-off valve. - Conducting a pressure test upon completion to ensure proper operation of all devices, safety switches, and pressure relief valves.
