Background The United States Forest Service (USFS) is issuing this solicitation for the purchase of grass hay and alfalfa hay to feed animals brought in from Federal lands for short-term holding at the Double Devil Wild Horse Corrals, located approximately 7.5 miles Northwest of Alturas, California. This acquisition is set-aside for small business concerns. Work Details The contract includes the following items: 1. **Grass Hay**: 100 tons (200,000 lbs.) of high-quality grass hay in 6-string rectangle bales. Specifications include: - Bale size: Approx. 4 ft. W x 4 ft. H x 8 ft. L - Acceptable varieties: Meadow, Blue, Timothy, Orchard, Coastal, and Bermuda. - Must contain 10% to 16% crude protein (CP), be from the 2025/2026 crops, domestically grown, sun-cured with no moisture damage, free from mold and contaminants including blister beetles. 2. **Alfalfa Hay**: 2100 tons (4,200,000 lbs.) of horse-quality alfalfa hay in 6-string rectangle bales. Specifications include: - Bale size: Approx. 4 ft. W x 4 ft. H x 8 ft. L - Must contain 15% to 22% crude protein (CP), be from the 2025/2026 crops, domestically grown, sun-cured with no moisture damage, free from mold and contaminants including blister beetles. Period of Performance Delivery of all items is required by April 13th, 2026, with continued monthly deliveries until the total tonnage has been delivered. Place of Performance Deliveries will be made to Double Devil Wild Horse and Burro Corrals at 1430 County Road 74, Alturas, California 96101.
