Background The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District, has established a contract with MWI Corporation (CAGE 086C8), located at 33 NW 2ND Street, Deerfield Beach, Florida, on a sole-source basis to purchase one spare submersible pump. The original pumps were custom-designed and manufactured by MWI Corporation for Pump Station S-703, which has specific operational conditions that require unique geometry, tolerances, and hydraulic design components. As such, alternate pumps would not be compatible without modification. MWI Corporation is determined to be the only responsible source for this requirement. Work Details The contract involves the manufacture, testing, warranty provision, and delivery of one submersible electric pump rated for 20cfs at 13.03 feet Total Dynamic Head (TDH). The specifications include: 1. A complete unit with a 50hp, 720rpm submersible electric motor and a 25.0-foot electric cable. 2. Construction entirely of duplex stainless-steel Type 316 for the motor housing, discharge bowl, and pump bowl. 3. The pump must fit directly into existing custom-fabricated pump cans without modification. 4. A five-year warranty is included with the unit. 5. Full-size factory testing is required before delivery to the SFWMD Homestead Field Station located at 2195 NE 8TH Street, Suite B-60, Homestead, FL 33033.
