***SEE ALL ATTACHED DOCUMENTATION*** The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announces a Diabetic Therapeutic Shoe Industry Day Conference to acquire information from Contractors with capability and expertise in providing for the production and/or supply of therapeutic shoes for diabetic Veteran patients. The requirement is for Pricing, Data Analysis, and Coding Contractor (PDAC) approved therapeutic footwear medical/surgical supplies for nationwide usage. PDAC is a Medicare contractor responsible for assigning and providing guidance on proper use of Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes. Certain products require Code Verification Review (CVR) in order to be reimbursed by Medicare and most other payers. This Therapeutic Shoes Industry Day will be held from April 7 9, 2026, at the VHA SimLEARN National Simulation Center, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando, FL 32827. Key specifications include: - Shoes must have a full-length, heel-to-toe filler that provides a minimum of 3/16 inches of additional depth when removed, accommodating custom-molded or customized inserts. - Materials must be leather or other suitable materials of equal quality, with a specification on the percentage of each material used. - Shoes must feature some form of closure (no slip-on designs). - Available in full and half sizes with at least three widths, conforming to the American Standard Last Sizing Schedule. - Vendors must provide replacement inserts that meet Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements for A5510/A5512, allowing simple exchange without trimming or reshaping. - Vendors are encouraged to bring samples of their top-selling models for review during one-on-one presentations.
