SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE (MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY) This is a Sources Sought Notice issued solely for market research purposes in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 10. This notice is for informational purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation. The Government is not requesting proposals, quotes, or bids currently. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Field Acquisition Office (FAO), is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of providing Biomedical Waste Removal Services for the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners (USMCFP), Springfield, Missouri. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of qualified sources. The information received will be utilized solely for market research and acquisition planning purposes. All information submitted in response to this notice is voluntary. The Government will not reimburse any costs associated with responding to this notice. A Market Research Questionnaire will be made available on or about February 27, 2026, via the System for Award Management (SAM) website at http://www.sam.gov . Interested parties are responsible for monitoring SAM.gov for updates. The questionnaire is included with this notice. Responses to this notice shall be submitted via email to: llwheeler@bop.gov . Background The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Field Acquisition Office (FAO), is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of providing Biomedical Waste Removal Services for the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners (USMCFP) located in Springfield, Missouri. This notice serves as a preliminary step to gather information regarding the availability and capability of qualified vendors for an upcoming contractual action. The services are currently being provided, and this market research aims to support acquisition planning. Work Details The contractor will be responsible for the proper removal and disposal of biomedical waste, trace chemotherapy waste, pharmaceutical hazardous waste, and pharmaceutical waste material. Key responsibilities include: 1. Performing disposal and/or thermal destruction of waste at approved incineration facilities in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. 2. Furnishing all approved containers (except sharps containers) which will be self-supplied by USMCFP. Containers must be red, reusable plastic tubs with lids not exceeding dimensions of 24 x 24 x 24 inches. 3. Conducting pickups three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during specified time slots (7:30 AM to 10:30 AM or 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM), with no pickups on federal holidays. 4. Providing verification of disposal through manifest control records. 5. Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and obtaining necessary licenses and permits for handling, transportation, and disposal of biomedical waste.
