Background Sarasota County, a political subdivision of the State of Florida, is seeking to select a contractor to provide disaster-related logistics services in support of disaster response and recovery operations. The goal of this contract is to ensure effective logistics support during and after disasters, which is critical for the County's emergency management efforts. Work Details The contractor will provide personnel and equipment for three-phase logistics support and transportation services: 1) Loading from a staged location (loading dock, storage bay, etc.), 2) Transporting point-to-point in contractor-provided vehicles, 3) Offloading to a receiving area. The contractor must maintain an active United States Department of Transportation Number and provide trained operators with valid Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDL). The vehicle fleet must include various types of trucks with specific cargo dimensions, including 16 ft and 26 ft box trucks, semi-trucks with trailers, and flatbed trucks capable of transporting intermodal containers. Additional responsibilities include providing small material handling equipment (MHE), maintaining accurate inventories for each load transported, and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order. Period of Performance The anticipated initial contract term is three years. Place of Performance Services will be performed within Sarasota County, Florida. Bidder Requirements Bidders must have an active USDOT Number issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. They are required to provide two verifiable references demonstrating experience in ground transport operations, loading/offloading operations, and load configuration within the past seven years. Bidders proposing as joint ventures must submit documentation attesting to their formation.
