Background The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) is seeking bids for the procurement of a fluorescent microscope equipped with a LED illuminator. This equipment is intended for use in the rabies lab at the IDOH Laboratory, which aims to enhance its operational capabilities and efficiency. The new microscope will replace an older model and will serve as the core instrument for laboratory work, providing significant long-term cost savings due to its maintenance-free LED technology. Work Details The contract involves supplying one fluorescent microscope with the following specifications: - Must be compatible with 120v electrical supply. - Dimensions: Self-contained unit measuring 25” wide and 30” deep, suitable for table placement. - Features required include: - LED Fluorescent Microscope - Adjustment knobs - Oculars: 10x, 20x, and 40x (with additional oculars permitted) - Tilting and telescoping trinocular (only one set needed) - Mechanical stage with shutter functionality - Adjustable eyepieces for multiple users - Ability to hold multiple filters and switch between them easily, including specific filters (Ex480/30 Dm505 Em515 LP and Ex480/30 Dm505 Em535/40) with capacity for at least one additional filter. - Must operate independently of a computer/software. - Digital camera specifications: must capture photos at a minimum of 17MP, capable of video capture, and able to export files to tablet/USB without requiring subscription software. Compatible with Windows 11. - A tablet compatible with the microscope/camera is required, featuring a screen size of 13” or smaller, at least one USB-C or USB-A port, and no subscription requirements for operation. - On-site installation and training must be provided. Maintenance fees for the estimated life of the instrument should also be included in the bid. Period of Performance The contract performance period begins upon award and extends until March 21, 2026. Place of Performance The equipment will be installed at the IDOH Laboratory located at 550 W 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46202. Bidder Requirements Bidders must comply with all applicable state regulations including registration with the Indiana Secretary of State if required. Additionally, bidders are encouraged to meet Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Women Business Enterprises (WBE) participation goals of 4% and 9%, respectively. Bidders must submit a completed MWBE Subcontractor Commitment Form if applicable.
