Background The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), specifically the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), is seeking to acquire a grain drill for establishing agronomic research studies. The goal of this contract is to provide equipment that can effectively operate in various soil conditions and support the research needs of the agency. Work Details The requirement is for a grain drill with the following specifications: - General: - 15 foot working width - 3 point hitch mount, Cat 2 compatible - 7.5 inch row spacing - Under 6000 lb empty weight - Rear, high-grip walkboard at least 17 inches wide - Drive: - Ground-driven or distance-driven - Mechanical, electronic, or hydraulic - Compatible with unit-level flow monitoring - Grain box: - Fluted metering wheel - Adjustable cup size with drop out to aid cleanout - V bottom between openers to aid complete cleanout - At least 2 bu/foot capacity - Seed level indicator - Multiple gears for accurate and smooth seed flow - Calibration can happen in storage (i.e. not in the field) - Grass/Small Seed box: - Adjustable feed cups - Separate disengagement clutch - Fertilizer delivery: - Either separate box or divider in main box - Units: - Capable of at least 150 lb down pressure, adjustable. - Condition: Used equipment must have at least 50% life remaining on all wear parts and be in good working condition. New equipment is optional. Place of Performance Delivery and performance are expected within proximity to Shelburne, Vermont.
