Background The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is seeking to purchase a broadcast seeder and flail harvester to support agricultural research initiatives. The goal of this contract is to acquire equipment that will enhance the efficiency of planting cover crops and managing biomass, thereby contributing to sustainable agricultural practices. Work Details The contract includes the following items: 1. **Broadcast Seeder** - Quantity: 1 EA - Specifications: - Suitable for cover crop and fertilizer applications into standing crops. - Hopper capacity: 18-22 cu ft, made of stainless steel or non-corrosive material. - Height: Under 48 inches from mounting location for visibility. - Must plant 10 acres of small grain seed at normal rates. - Adjustable metering wheels for small (forage legumes) and large seeds (cereals, grain legumes). - Electronic metering drive with adjustable rates from the tractor. - Pneumatic material delivery through tubes to toolbar-mounted deflectors, hydraulically powered with <18 GPM flow. 2. **Flail Harvester** - Quantity: 1 EA - Specifications: - Working width: Approximately 6 ft. - Towed directly behind a tractor with adjustable wheel spacing. - PTO driven at 540 or 1000 RPM. - Delivery chute capable of sending material to a towed forage wagon or keeping it on the ground. - Hydraulically adjustable cut height ranging from 3-8 inches with at least 32 knives for even cutting. - Both items must be in new condition and meet the specifications outlined in attachment 2. Period of Performance Delivery is required within 15 days after award. Place of Performance Items shall be delivered to USDA-ARS, 1211 Ethan Allen Highway, Charlotte, VT 05445.
