Turnpike Road Culvert Replacement and Stormwater Ditching Project

Background

The Town of Norwich, Vermont is issuing a Request for Bids for the replacement of five existing undersized 15-inch round culverts (#22, #24, #25, #29, and #30) on Turnpike Road. The project aims to improve stormwater management and infrastructure integrity by replacing these culverts with larger, more efficient models. The Town seeks to have the project completed as soon as possible, but no later than September 30, 2026.

Work Details

The work includes the following tasks: 1. Replacement of existing culvert 22 with an 18-inch ADS HP Storm Dual Wall Gray Pipe approximately 35 feet in length. 2. Replacement of existing culvert 24 with an 18-inch ADS HP Storm Dual Wall Gray Pipe approximately 35 feet in length. 3. Replacement of existing culvert 25 with a 24-inch ADS HP Storm Dual Wall Gray Pipe approximately 40 feet in length. 4. Replacement of existing culvert 29 with an 18-inch ADS HP Storm Dual Wall Gray Pipe approximately 50 feet in length. 5. Replacement of existing culvert 30 with an 18-inch ADS HP Storm Dual Wall Gray Pipe approximately 50 feet in length. Additional work includes excavation and removal of existing culverts, installation of new bedding material, backfilling around pipes, and armoring inlets and outlets to prevent erosion. Stormwater ditching will also be performed at specified locations along Turnpike Road to enhance drainage efficiency.

Period of Performance

The contract work is expected to commence upon issuance of the Notice to Proceed and must be completed by September 30, 2026.

Place of Performance

The project will take place on Turnpike Road in the Town of Norwich, Vermont.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance with coverage of no less than $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate. They must also comply with OSHA trenching requirements and provide references for similar work performed.
