Simpson Co Infrastructure Rehabilitation

Background

The Commonwealth of Kentucky is issuing this solicitation for the RFB-17-27 project, which focuses on infrastructure rehabilitation at the I-65 Northbound Welcome Center in Simpson County. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) aims to address ongoing malfunctions in the existing pump station and force main, resulting in high operational costs and inefficiencies. The goal of this contract is to enhance the functionality of the wastewater management system serving the Welcome Center.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for rerouting a segment of gravity line and replacing an existing pump station and force main. Specific tasks include: 1. Directional boring under a pavement segment to maintain truck traffic. 2. Replacing the manhole upstream of the station with a 'Muffin Monster' pretreatment grinder/manhole combination. 3. Replacing the malfunctioning pump station to eliminate costly monthly evacuations of the wet well. 4. Addressing suspected downstream issues with the existing force main that affect system functionality. 5. Acquiring a utility easement for routing a portion of the force main that traverses private property (KY DOWNS Gaming, Horse Racing, and Hotel Complex). 6. Reconstructing an existing sewer manhole owned by the City of Franklin as part of this project. 7. Stabilizing and reseeding all disturbed areas affected by construction activities.

Period of Performance

The contract performance period is expected to commence upon award and will continue until project completion, with specific timelines detailed in subsequent documentation.

The work will be performed at the I-65 Northbound Welcome Center located in Simpson County, Kentucky.
