Background

The West Virginia Department of Human Services (WVDoHS) aims to promote a thriving and healthy West Virginia by providing access to critical health care, essential social services, and benefits, with a focus on vulnerable populations. The Bureau for Family Assistance (BFA) supports West Virginians in overcoming barriers to stability and self-sufficiency. This funding opportunity is part of the Family Resource Network (FRN) initiative, which seeks to enhance community resources for children and families.

Work Details

The Family Resource Networks (FRNs) are tasked with organizing, mobilizing, and coordinating community resources to improve service systems for children and families. Key objectives include: 1. Increasing availability of family support services by tracking data on existing services and gaps. 2. Boosting the county's capacity to obtain new resources through monthly stakeholder meetings. 3. Improving utilization of primary prevention and family support services via Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs). 4. Enhancing healthcare access through outreach and enrollment support. 5. Developing a digital resource guide for community partners. Each FRN must employ a director with decision-making authority and maintain a governing body primarily composed of non-providers, including family representatives.
