Summary: Background The South Grand Chenier Baker Tract Marsh Creation (ME-32) project is initiated by the USDA-FPAC BC to address coastal erosion and habitat restoration in the Mermentau Basin, specifically in the Chenier Sub-Basin and Hog Bayou Watershed. The project aims to create approximately 466 acres of marsh using dredged material from the Gulf of America. It is part of a larger initiative approved under the Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) and is funded by both federal and state resources. The project seeks to restore degraded marshes, create new wetland habitats, and provide protective measures against storm surges for local communities. Work Details The scope of work includes the construction of approximately 20,375 linear feet of earthen containment dike and the nourishment of marshland through dredging operations. Specific tasks outlined include: 1) Mobilization to the project site; 2) Conducting various surveys (magnetic, hydrographic); 3) Quality control measures; 4) Construction surveys; 5) Installation of staff gauges; 6) Filling marsh creation areas; 7) Demobilization from the site. The project will also involve dewatering structure removal and as-built documentation. Period of Performance The contract will be performed over a period of 339 days with an allowance for 38 weather days. Place of Performance The construction projects will be performed in southwest Louisiana, specifically south of LA Hwy 82 and directly west of Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge. Bidder Requirements Bidders must demonstrate capability through a capability statement including their Cage Code, point of contact information, and a brief outline of past experience.
