Background The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the Southern District of Mississippi is seeking contractor support services for a Media Relations Assistant. The mission of the USAO is to prosecute and defend cases on behalf of the federal government. This contract aims to develop and execute a media strategy that aligns with the USAO’s strategic plan and operational goals. The contractor will play a critical role in publicizing the efforts of the USAO to deter criminal conduct and raise public awareness about crime prevention initiatives. Work Details The Media Relations Assistant Contractor will be responsible for: - Planning, writing, and editing news releases on USAO priority programs, training, and community outreach efforts. - Planning, writing, and editing news releases on USAO cases, achievements, and results, including indictments, change of pleas, convictions, and sentencings. - Planning, scripting, and coordinating press conferences on USAO priority programs and significant cases. - Drafting op-eds and articles approved by the United States Attorney to educate the public on USAO programs. - Identifying speaking opportunities for USAO personnel to promote awareness of their mission. - Responding to information requests from media and community groups regarding significant initiatives. - Establishing relationships with local media outlets and monitoring social media for effective publicity. - Analyzing program materials to facilitate communication with affected individuals/groups. - Preparing press packets and evaluating the effectiveness of media strategies. Period of Performance The base period of performance is from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. There are four option years available contingent on funding availability. Place of Performance Work will be performed at the Contractor’s office as well as at various community meeting sites within the jurisdiction of the United States Attorney's Office — Southern District of Mississippi located at 501 E. Court Street, Suite 4.430, Jackson, MS 39201. Bidder Requirements Bidders must meet the following requirements: - Small Business Set Aside - Total (SBA). - At least ten years of demonstrated experience in a similar position. - A resume not exceeding three pages detailing relevant experience. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. - A valid driver's license and dependable vehicle are required. - U.S. Citizenship with a minimum ten-year background investigation clearance (high risk). - Key personnel must reside within the boundaries of USAO-SDMS prior to solicitation response.
