Background The Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) is seeking to procure a welder training course for divers. This initiative is part of their mission to enhance the skills of their personnel, specifically addressing the welding training needs identified for Code 970 Divers. The contract is issued as a total small business set-aside under RFQ N5523626Q0083, with a focus on providing specialized training in various welding techniques. Work Details The vendor shall provide a comprehensive Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) course that includes: - Four weeks of training for up to four students at 2970 Main Street, San Diego, CA 92113. - Training consumables including welding rods and project plates per student. - AWS Welding Test leading to qualification from an Accredited Test Facility upon passing. - Provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for students without their own, available at $100 per student. - Training components include: - Welder’s safety training. - Instruction on SMAW electrodes (E6011, E7018). - Welding techniques on mild steel plates in various positions (1F, 2F, 3F, 4F, 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G). - Qualification on welding a vee groove joint in the 3G and 4G positions on 3/8” mild steel plate as per Workshops for Warriors standards. - Each student will be assigned a welding booth and necessary equipment throughout the course duration. Bidder Requirements Bidders must be classified as small businesses as this solicitation is set aside exclusively for them. Additionally, vendors must have the capability to provide all necessary training and equipment as specified in the Statement of Work.
