Background

Rhode Island College (RIC) is seeking to contract laundry services for its Residential Life and Housing department. The goal of this contract is to provide high-quality laundry services to students residing in five residence halls on campus. The current laundry concession services are managed by the Office of Residential Life and Housing, overseeing approximately 34 washers and 34 dryers across 10 laundry rooms. The selected vendor will be responsible for all aspects of equipment acquisition, installation, maintenance, and service management.

Work Details

The contractor will supply and service washers and dryers in five residence halls at Rhode Island College. This includes: 1. Providing high-quality, low-maintenance front-load washers and dryers. 2. Implementing two payment methods: a mag stripe-based card system (Illumia Odyssey ERP) and a mobile phone-based payment application. 3. Installing a laundry monitoring mobile application that allows residents to check machine availability, request service, and manage reimbursements. 4. Conducting preventative maintenance weekly and responding to service requests within established timeframes. 5. Providing additional services such as signage for proper machine use, addressing common complaints about dryer performance, and maintaining equipment in compliance with state regulations.

Period of Performance

The initial contract period will begin approximately on September 1, 2026, and will end on June 30, 2033. There is an option to renew for up to three additional 12-month periods based on vendor performance.

Place of Performance

The services will be performed at Rhode Island College's campus in Providence, Rhode Island, specifically in the designated residence halls: Penfield, Browne, Thorp, Sweet, and Weber.
