Background

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking qualified contractors to perform maintenance on the reactor tanks at the Hollywood Acid Mine Drainage Treatment Plant. The goal of this contract is to remove and dispose of hardened sludge deposits that have accumulated in the tanks, which consist of precipitated metals and lime. This project is part of the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation's efforts to maintain effective treatment of acid mine drainage.

Work Details

The contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary labor and equipment to remove approximately 360 cubic yards of hardened sludge from two concrete reactor tanks, each measuring 27 feet by 27 feet with a depth of 25 feet. The work includes: 1. Removal, hauling, and disposal of sludge at an approved landfill or waste disposal site. 2. Cleaning the inside walls of the reactor tanks to remove residual sludge or sediment. 3. Sealing and securing the 30-inch diameter manway access after completion with new gaskets and sealant. 4. Restoration of any disturbed areas to original conditions. 5. Obtaining necessary permits for waste disposal and providing verification of proper disposal.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence upon execution and is expected to be completed within ninety (90) days.
