Background The Navajo Area Indian Health Service, Kayenta Health Center (KHC) is seeking to optimize the Emergency Room's HVAC system by addressing airflow imbalances that affect critical care operations. This project aims to improve the performance and efficiency of the existing HVAC system serving the ER, ensuring a safe and functional environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Work Details The scope of work includes: 1. Demolition/Preparation: Access existing ductwork serving ER, ER Triage, and ER Waiting Room; remove existing three-way tee fitting as required. 2. Duct Modification: Replace existing three-way tee with a properly configured sweep (wye) fitting to improve airflow to the ER main run; ensure smooth transition and proper orientation to favor airflow toward the ER. 3. Damper Installation: Install manual balancing dampers in branch ducts serving ER Triage and ER Waiting Room. 4. Sealing & Insulation: Seal all new duct connections with mastic and tape per SMACNA standards; replace or repair insulation as required to maintain thermal integrity. 5. Testing & Balancing: Adjust newly installed dampers to reduce airflow to ER Triage and Waiting Room; verify increased airflow to ER main area. 6. Cleanup: Remove debris and restore work area to original condition.
