Bisdorf Building HVAC Renovations at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus

Background

The Bisdorf Building HVAC Renovations project is being conducted by Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) at their Alexandria Campus. The purpose of this project is to renovate all downstream mechanical equipment following the air handling units for phases 1 and 2 of the Bisdorf Building. This initiative aligns with NVCC's mission to provide quality education and facilities for its students and staff.

Work Details

The scope of work includes the renovation of all downstream mechanical equipment after the air handling units for phases 1 and 2 of the Bisdorf Building. Specific tasks include: - Cleaning of existing HVAC air distribution systems. - Installation of common motor requirements for HVAC equipment. - Installation of sleeves and sleeve seals for HVAC piping. - Installation of escutcheons, meters, gauges, general valves, hangers, supports, vibration controls, duct insulation, equipment insulation, piping insulation, and commissioning of HVAC systems. - Implementation of a Direct Digital Control (DDC) system for HVAC. - Installation of hydronic piping and related specialties including pumps and refrigerant piping.

Period of Performance

The contract will be performed over a specified period starting from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed until substantial completion is achieved. The contractor is expected to achieve final completion within thirty (30) days after substantial completion.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria Campus located at 5000 Dawes Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be registered vendors in eVA. They are required to submit a Standard Commonwealth Bid Bond (form CO-10.2) and Contract Security regardless of bid amount. Bidders must also comply with licensing requirements as per Virginia law; Class A contractors are required for contracts exceeding $120,000 or total construction values over $750,000. Class B contractors are required for contracts between $10,000 and $120,000 or total construction values between $150,000 and $750,000.
