Portable Fire Extinguisher And Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression System Inspection, Testing Repairs And Services

Background

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is issuing this solicitation for the inspection, testing, repairs, and services of Portable Fire Extinguishers and Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression Systems. The goal is to ensure compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and Montgomery County Fire Code Requirements. This contract aims to maintain safety standards across various MCPS facilities.

Work Details

The contractor will provide annual inspections of Portable Fire Extinguishers and bi-annual inspections of Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression Systems at all MCPS facilities. Specific tasks include: 1) Performing mandated annual inspections of Portable Fire Extinguishers between April and August, completing all inspections by August 20th each year; 2) Conducting bi-annual inspections of Kitchen Suppression Systems, with the first inspection between May and July and the second six months later; 3) Providing service technicians for repairs on an as-needed basis; 4) Ensuring all work complies with applicable laws, codes, and regulations; 5) Submitting an asbestos-free verification form as required; 6) Responding to repair requests within two hours for emergencies and within 24 hours for non-emergencies.

Period of Performance

The contract term is for one year from the date of approval by the Board of Education, with options to extend for up to four additional one-year terms.

Place of Performance

All work will be performed at various Montgomery County Public Schools facilities as listed in Appendix E (Fire Extinguishers) and Appendix F (Kitchen Suppression Systems).

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must possess a current State of Maryland Construction Business License or a Maryland Home Improvement Commission License. They must also provide manufacturer certification for Kitchen Hood Fire Suppression Systems and a Montgomery County Permit to Inspect Portable Fire Extinguishers. Additionally, bidders are required to submit documentation confirming that their workforce meets criminal background check requirements as per Maryland law.
