Requirements Requires the installation of a second P-Line HMI controller on clean side cagewash in order to effectively and efficiently operate the P-Line water bottle automation machine for producing clean bacteria-free filled water bottles for animals in he Building 35/35A vivarium. AHCS uses a Tecniplast P-Line water bottle automation machine to process the bulk water bottles required to provide the rodents with clean and bacteria-free water. Installed in 2024, AHCS has recognized some difficulties manipulating the water bottle recapper and refiller from the clean side of cagewash, since the main controller is located on the dirty side. Installing this second controller on the clean side of cagewash will allow for efficient management and troubleshooting of the device, minimizing downtime, wasted staff time and PPE, and maximizing return on investment of the machine. The requested clean-side HMI controller is directly tied to this animal-care function because it will allow cagewash staff to efficiently monitor, control, manage, and troubleshoot the P-Line bottle automation machine from the clean side. This will reduce PPE use, equipment downtime, and time spent traveling to the dirty-side controller. Effective operation of this machine is necessary to maintain efficient cagewash operations that support animal healthcare in the vivarium
Background The contract is issued by the Animal Health Care Services (AHCS) to enhance the operation of the P-Line water bottle automation machine used for providing clean, bacteria-free water to rodents in the Building 35/35A vivarium. The goal is to improve efficiency and effectiveness in managing the water bottle automation process, which is critical for animal healthcare. Work Details The contract requires the installation of a second P-Line HMI controller on the clean side of the cagewash. This installation aims to facilitate effective operation of the P-Line water bottle automation machine, which processes bulk water bottles for rodents. The existing main controller is located on the dirty side, causing operational difficulties. The new clean-side controller will enable staff to monitor, control, manage, and troubleshoot the automation machine directly from their work area, thereby reducing equipment downtime and minimizing wasted staff time and personal protective equipment (PPE). Period of Performance The geographic location(s) the product will be delivered to or performed at Place of Performance Building 35/35A vivarium
