Background

This quote is for Bus Wash, Degreaser, and Other Cleaning Chemicals for the City’s Regional Transit System (RTS) on an as-needed basis. The City of Gainesville, which serves as the cultural, educational, and commercial center for north central Florida, owns a regional transit system among other municipal services. The contract aims to ensure the provision of necessary cleaning chemicals to maintain the transit fleet effectively. The term of the contract is set for one year from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027.

Work Details

The contractor will provide the following products: 1. **Bus Wash**: A liquid product used in a drive-through wash bay with automated brushes and undercarriage wash. It must penetrate and loosen road film/heavy soils, provide thick-stable foam for complete vehicle coverage, and not contain chlorine bleach or phosphates. It should foam at dilutions up to 1:300 and reside in a pH range of 8.0 to 11.0. 2. **Engine HD Degreaser**: This product will be used through a dispenser connected to a pressure washer system for cleaning bus engines and transmissions. It must be liquid form with low odor, dissolve grease and industrial oils, and have no flash point while residing in a pH range of 10.0 to 14.0. 3. **Windshield Wash**: Approved for use in transit buses, it must remove road film and dirt without streaking or spotting and be pre-diluted at +20-degree Fahrenheit. The contractor must maintain sufficient supply levels to meet service requirements and ensure continuity of service at all times.

Period of Performance

The contract will commence on October 1, 2026, and terminate on September 30, 2027. There is an option for one-year extensions up to a total of five years.

Place of Performance

The services will be performed at the City’s Regional Transit System located at 34 SE 13th Road, Building C, Gainesville, FL 32627.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must have been in the chemical distribution business for at least five years servicing accounts similar in size to the City of Gainesville. They must also be authorized resellers or distributors of the proposed brands/manufacturers. Additionally, bidders are required to comply with insurance requirements including general liability insurance of $1 million per occurrence.
