Roof Replacement Smith Career Center

Background

The Commonwealth of Virginia, through the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, is seeking bids for the Roof Replacement and Slate Repair project at the Smith Career Center located in Blacksburg, Virginia. The project aims to remove existing low slope roof systems and replace them with a new roofing system while also addressing slate shingle repairs and installing a new lightning protection system. This initiative aligns with the university's commitment to maintaining its facilities and ensuring safety standards.

Work Details

The scope of work includes: - Removal of approximately 3,200 square feet of existing low slope roof systems down to the roof deck. - Installation of a fully adhered 90-mil roofing system. - Repair and replacement of up to 200 damaged or missing slate shingles (Section 07315). The contractor will provide labor while the owner supplies slate from stock. - Preparation and priming of 500 square feet of existing metal deck found to be rusty. - Replacement of unacceptable metal deck with new 18-gauge galvanized 'B' Deck, including 100 square feet in the base bid. - Installation of a new lightning protection system as part of the overall project.

Period of Performance

The contract is expected to be completed within sixty (60) consecutive calendar days from the date of commencement specified in the Notice to Proceed. Final completion is required within thirty (30) consecutive calendar days after substantial completion.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed at the Smith Career Center, located at 870 Washington St. SW, Blacksburg, VA 24060.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must be registered vendors in eVA and comply with all licensing requirements as specified under Virginia law. A Bid Bond is required for bids exceeding $500,000. Additionally, bidders must submit a Small Business Procurement Plan detailing participation by small businesses in their bid.
