Tree Removal and Stump Grinding

Background

The City of Upper Arlington is seeking a vendor to provide comprehensive tree removal and stump grinding services. The agency's mission is to maintain public safety and aesthetics by managing urban forestry effectively. This contract aims to ensure that tree removal work is conducted safely and efficiently, particularly around utility lines, by a qualified contractor with specialized expertise in arboriculture.

Work Details

The contractor will provide all labor, supervision, equipment, materials, and expertise necessary for tree removal and stump grinding within the City of Upper Arlington. The scope includes: 1. Removal of 39 specified trees marked with red paint. 2. Removal of 39 stumps associated with the removed trees. 3. Repair of downspouts and irrigation lines at a unit price per linear foot, with a maximum allowance of $650 for this item. 4. Additional tree-related services may be requested throughout the year as needed, subject to prior approval from the City. All work must comply with ANSI Z-133.1 safety standards and OSHA regulations.

Period of Performance

Work is scheduled to begin approximately on June 29th, 2026, and must be completed within twenty (20) working days from the start date, excluding inclement weather.

Place of Performance

The work will be performed on public rights-of-way and public properties within the City of Upper Arlington, Ohio, including parks and occasionally on private properties where trees interfere with public land use.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must derive the majority of their annual income from arboricultural work and employ highly trained personnel skilled in tree maintenance and removal. Subcontracting is not allowed without prior written consent from the Superintendent of Parks and Forestry. Bidders must also provide proof of insurance and references upon request.
