Potential Consulting/Study Contract: Solid Waste Characterization Study Update

A recent meeting document Riley County - Agenda Packet - 2026-04-30 indicates a future potential acquisition The Solid Waste Management Committee (SWMC) recognizes the need to measure progress made towards waste reduction goals and to identify the segments of the waste stream to target for waste reduction activities. To that end, SWMC will seek out grants and other funding sources to update the Solid Waste Characterization Study within the next five years (by January 2029). The Committee will work to collaborate with other agencies and groups to complete this study. This type of work typically involves hiring an environmental consulting firm to conduct waste audits, data analysis, and reporting to inform future waste diversion and recycling strategies.
