Background

Talbot County, Maryland is seeking bids to farm the land at the County-owned Bio-Solids Facility located at 9786 Klondike Road, Easton, Maryland. The goal of the contract is to utilize regenerative agricultural practices for farming on the facility's land.

Work Details

After harvesting corn, a cover crop consisting of clover and wheat must be planted. The cover crop in the permitted area must be killed off mechanically, not burned off. The contractor must submit a plan detailing regenerative agricultural practices including the use of compost tea or compost extract, nitrogen fixation methods, and phosphorus management strategies. Additionally, the contractor is responsible for maintaining noxious weeds and preparing an annual bid for maintenance of the entrance road which includes two scrapings and two ten-ton truckloads (12 cubic yards) of #57 stone gravel with tickets included in the annual payment. Compliance with the Nutrient Management Plan is mandatory, ensuring that no additional nitrogen or phosphorus is added to the soil in the sprayed area.
