Sidewalk Regrading

Background

The Town of Somerset, located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, is soliciting proposals for Sidewalk Regrading Services. The Town is a small municipality with approximately 415 residential houses and aims to ensure that the work is done promptly and properly while minimizing disruption to residents. The contract will be awarded at the Town's July 6, 2026 Council Meeting.

Work Details

The contractor will perform street buffer regrading on all Town streets, defined as the area between the curb and sidewalk. The work includes: - Conducting a pre-construction condition survey documenting existing conditions such as erosion, potholes, and unsafe drop-offs; - Regrading areas of soil erosion or washout; - Addressing potholes or surface voids; - Correcting unsafe drop-offs and improper drainage slopes; - Restoring ground cover to pre-construction condition; - Cleaning up debris generated by the work. All work must conform to Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services standards and Maryland Department of Transportation specifications. Fill material must be clean, screened topsoil or an approved topsoil/compost blend.

The contract period will commence upon award at the Town Council meeting on July 6, 2026, with specific timelines for completion to be determined based on the pre-construction survey.

The services will be performed throughout the Town of Somerset in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Bidder Requirements

Bidders must provide proof of registration to do business in Maryland, a certificate of liability insurance, and comply with local laws regarding discrimination in employment.
