Background The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Colorado, is issuing a solicitation for the Douglas Hill Cut and Pile project, aimed at reducing the risk of wildland fires through vegetation management. This project is part of a broader initiative to manage fuels on Federal and adjacent non-Federal lands, as authorized by Public Law 112-74 and the National Fire Plan. Work Details The contractor will perform hand-thinning with chainsaws to remove undesirable trees and branches across approximately 567.8 base acres and an additional 447.7 optional acres. Specific tasks include: - Cutting piñon or juniper trees less than 15 feet tall, - Removing ladder fuels from larger trees, - Cutting diseased trees regardless of size, - Ensuring that slash is piled appropriately away from larger ponderosa pines. Slash piles must be assembled within specified dimensions and will be burned after sufficient drying. The contractor must also provide all necessary equipment, fuel, and personnel to complete these tasks while adhering to environmental regulations.
