Background The National Weather Service (NWS) is issuing a solicitation for janitorial services at their office located at 234 Weather Service Drive, Jackson, MS 39232. The goal of this contract is to ensure a clean and sanitary environment for the staff and visitors of the NWS office. The contract includes a base year with four option years, allowing for continued service based on performance and funding availability. Work Details The contractor will provide all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for janitorial services at the NWS office. The scope of work includes: - Daily cleaning tasks such as emptying waste baskets, removing trash, cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and break rooms, checking and refilling paper supplies, dust mopping floors, deodorizing restrooms, and disinfecting door handles. - Weekly tasks include dusting flat surfaces, wet mopping floors, vacuuming carpets, shaking out entry mats, and sweeping outside entryways. - Monthly tasks involve spot cleaning doors and walls, dusting high ledges and fixtures, and buffing/waxing tile floors. - Quarterly tasks include stripping old wax and re-waxing tile floors. - Semi-annual tasks consist of shampooing carpets, spraying buildings to remove mildew build-up, cleaning chairs, washing windows inside and out, and vacuuming draperies or dusting blinds. All cleaning products must be environmentally friendly and non-toxic. The contractor must also manage security background investigations for personnel requiring access to the site. Period of Performance The period of performance for the base year is from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. There are four option years extending through June 30, 2031.
